Artist's Comments

This assignment for Illustration class required us to make up a simple scene and create it using cut-outs of different coloured paper. We had to create the scene twice but at different times of the day/night.

Mine is based around Sydney's eastern suburbs.

The first shows a man at a secluded park, overlooking the city waters. He sits back and watches the sun set over the buildings while his dog plays in the grass.
The second shows a young couple at the same location, lying on the grass, adoring each other's company while a cruise ship passes through the still waters.

There are a lot of things I'm not happy about as I rushed it towards the end. I still quite like it though... first time doing anything like this I guess. So yeah... please don't critique this. I know there are mistakes and I'm pretty sensitive about it. lol.

I got Distinction+ for this which is higher than I expected so yay :)

Is that a high disctinction, then?

it looks quite cool, I guess you've fulfilled the criteria, thus the mark.

How'd you get the moonshine thing going on? or is that just the flash, and isn't actually in the original?
:icontyraen:
I dunno. I think think this looks really good, especially for your first time doing it. I know that I would have had a hard time just coming up with a good idea to try. I especially like the dog (modeled after the drawings you do of your own dog I am sure) :p and the moon behind the cityscape. This project has illustrator -all- over it. :D

In an effort to reduce the excessive gravy that is my signature I have eliminated all but the essentials for your viewing pleasure.

Illustrator? ... tell me about it! A few people in the class, including me, tried to see if we were allowed to just do it in Illustrator lol. Woulda been SOOO much easier!

nah, it's in between Disctinction and High Distinction.
thanks.

um.. no... everything you see there is on the orginal besides the lightness on the black and stuff which you can see is the flash. The paper I used for the moon is metallic so that why it looks extra shiny. As with the tree in the day scene... it has shiny fibres all through it.
